About the role
We are hiring a Payroll Administrator to join the DRS Naval Power Systems team. As a member of the payroll team, you will process payroll—balancing and reconciling figures for three facilities and approximately 1,500 employees.
Responsibilities
- Process biweekly salary/hourly payroll and weekly payroll for hourly union employees.
- Consolidate timesheets and prepare submission to ADP.
- Set up direct deposit and tax withholding information.
- Stay current with taxation of salaries, benefits, and other payroll factors.
- Process and monitor garnishment orders and other payroll-related issues.
- Document and maintain all payroll records.
- Support audit requests and reconcile general ledger for payroll transactions.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues.
- Verify payroll, entering exceptions such as overtime, LOA, sick time, and vacation time.
- Prepare quarterly 941 reports, 401(k) match verifications, and employment verifications for credit applications or mortgages.
- Balance year-end W-2 data, including gross wages, taxes, and moving expenses.
Requirements
- 2+ years of payroll experience and a high school diploma; associate’s degree preferred.
- Experience in a union and manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with ADP payroll systems.
- Strong organization and mathematical skills.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge of payroll business procedures and principles.
- Able to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks.
- U.S. citizenship required.
