Responsibilities
- Perform quality checks on all data entry activity performed by the department’s financial clerks.
- Audit and monitor all payroll activity related to internal transfers between pay groups.
- Calculate and process payoffs; ensure accuracy of pay and labor transactions.
- Cook up and coordinate tax location code updates for employees entering and returning from extended work assignments.
- Cook up and coordinate wage and tax reversals as necessary.
- Maintain and perform updates to multistate taxation related activity.
- Evaluate monthly leave accrual activity for accuracy. Perform updates as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting
- 2+ years of Payroll processing experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Reporting and data analysis experience
Preferred
- 4+ years of Payroll processing experience
- Experience working with mainframe based financial systems
- PeopleSoft experience
- Prior experience working with multiple pay groups / collective bargaining units
Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality working with sensitive information
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with all layers within the organization as well as outside agencies and third-party providers
- Ability to effectively work as a team player in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
