Payroll & A/P Manager
Position Summary
AuthoraCare Collective is seeking an experienced Payroll & A/P Manager to lead our Accounts Payable, Claims, and Payroll functions. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with solid payroll experience who is ready to take ownership of monthly payroll-related accounting, mentor a small team, and be a trusted partner to Finance leadership. Reporting to the Controller, the Payroll & A/P Manager will supervise the Payroll Specialist, Claims Analyst, and Accounts Payable Specialist, while personally owning full-cycle payroll processing, payroll review, and month-end reconciliations tied to payroll and accounts payable.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full-cycle payroll processing, including mileage reimbursement processing
- Review payroll processing each pay cycle for accuracy prior to finalization
- Review claims processing and reconciliation for accuracy, including Nursing Home Medicaid Room and Board claims
- Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts
- Hire, train, motivate, and evaluate accounts payable and payroll staff members
- Ensure all Accounts Payable invoices and claims are properly approved and accurately recorded weekly
- Determine and reconcile monthly Accounts Payable accruals and trade balances to the general ledger
- Oversee payroll workflow to ensure timely, accurate processing and PTO review
- Prepare documentation for the annual 403(b) audit
- Assist external auditors with requested reports
- Serve as a resource for payroll/timekeeping system reporting
Required Qualifications
- Solid, hands-on payroll experience is essential, with a strong focus on full-cycle payroll processing
- Strong understanding of payroll taxes, quarterly payroll tax returns, and SUTA
- Experience with multi-state payroll setup and compliance
- Familiarity with benefits administration, including HSA, FSA, health, dental, and 401(k) plans
- 4+ years of experience in accounts payable, payroll, or a broader accounting department
- Strong Excel and MS Office skills
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage deadlines across multiple priorities
- A motivated self-starter who can work independently and lead a team
Preferred Qualifications
- UKG/Kronos experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
- Prior supervisory or team-lead experience
- No prior claims experience necessary, training will be provided

Schedule
This is a full-time hybrid position Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm with a minimum of 3 days in the office each week and an office base of Greensboro or Burlington, NC.
