Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money. Min fees. Max ease. Full speed. Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.

About the role

We’re looking for an exceptional Payment Product Operations Specialist to join our North America Payment Operations team in Austin. This dynamic position sits at the intersection of Product, Engineering, and Operations. You will architect our scalability in the USD and CAD markets, transforming complex payment hurdles into seamless, automated systems. This isn’t a traditional operations role—it’s for someone who thrives in an environment of fast-paced growth and autonomy, aiming to make our North American payment rails so efficient they feel seamless for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Scale the "Unscalable": Audit our USD/CAD payment routes to identify manual friction. Build automation and workflow improvements to eliminate problems.
  • Bridge the Gap: Act as the strategic connective tissue between Product, Engineering, and Ops teams. Translate technical constraints into operational reality and vice versa.
  • Own the Lifecycle: Lead high-impact projects from initial scoping and data analysis to final rollout. You own the "Go" button.
  • Drive Data-Informed Strategy: Use SQL and LightDash to define and track the KPIs that matter. Prove your impact through metric improvements.
  • Amplify the Team: Mentor and strategically partner with Senior Specialists, guiding them through complex project delivery, scoping, and execution.
  • SME Leadership: Serve as the North American subject matter expert. Strategize mitigation and resolution for complex payment incidents or regulatory shifts.
  • Build the Blueprint: Establish SLAs and KPIs for new product features, ensuring quality as Wise grows.

Opportunities

  • Experience True Autonomy: Own your domain, projects, and results without micromanagement. Help shape the roadmap.
  • Drive Local Impact with Global Reach: Build and grow a massive market for a global FinTech leader from your Austin office.
  • Embrace Global Scale and Local Culture: Work on problems affecting millions globally while enjoying Austin’s collaborative energy.
  • Do Mission-Driven Work: Every manual task automated and process improved directly impacts our customers’ experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering mid-sized projects with engineers or product/operational teams, demonstrating clear impact.
  • Previous experience improving a product or service.
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma) and relevant training.
  • Track record of achieving targets and goals, setting and monitoring success.
  • Ability to articulate, simplify, and scope problems, and follow through to completion. Identify process gaps and solve new issues independently.
  • Technical understanding of product and payment operations processes to develop or recommend solutions.
  • Empathy for customer and team challenges, with a passion for solutions that positively impact Payment Operations and customers.
  • Comfort with data: build dashboards using BI tools like Looker, analyze data, and measure impact of problems and solutions.
  • Ability to measure solutions against cross-team and customer impact; globalize solutions where possible.
  • Strong communication skills, tailoring messages for different stakeholders, from senior leadership to specialists.
  • Mission-driven mindset: map mission impact when scoping new projects.
  • Comfort providing feedback and speaking out if actions or solutions conflict with Wise’s principles/mission or introduce unnecessary risks.
  • Actively seek stakeholder feedback and empathize with diverse viewpoints.
