Payment Operations Regional Product Specialist
Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money. With minimal fees and maximum ease, Wise is on a mission to make international money movement faster, cheaper, and more seamless for everyone, everywhere.
About the role
We’re looking for an exceptional Payment Product Operations Specialist to join our North America Payment Operations team in Austin. This dynamic position sits at the intersection of Product, Engineering, and Operations, where you’ll architect scalability in the USD and CAD markets by transforming complex payment hurdles into seamless, automated systems.
This role offers true autonomy—you’ll own your domain, projects, and results, helping to shape the roadmap rather than waiting for one. You’ll drive local impact with global reach, working on problems that affect millions while enjoying the collaborative energy of our Austin office. Every improvement you make directly enhances the experience of our customers’ money movement.
Responsibilities
- Scale the "Unscalable": Audit USD/CAD payment routes to identify manual friction and build automation/workflow improvements to eliminate it.
- Bridge the Gap: Act as strategic connective tissue between Product, Engineering, and Ops teams, translating technical constraints into operational reality and vice versa.
- Own the Lifecycle: Lead high-impact projects from scoping and data analysis to final rollout, owning the "Go" button.
- Drive Data-Informed Strategy: Use SQL and LightDash to define and track KPIs, proving impact through metric improvements.
- Amplify the Team: Mentor Senior Specialists through complex project delivery, scoping, and execution, elevating the team’s capabilities.
- SME Leadership: Serve as the North American subject matter expert for payment incidents or regulatory shifts, leading mitigation and resolution.
- Build the Blueprint: Establish SLAs and KPIs for new product features to ensure quality scales with growth.
Requirements
- Experience delivering mid-sized projects with engineers, product, or operational teams, demonstrating clear impact.
- Track record of improving a product or service, with knowledge of process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma).
- Ability to set, monitor, and achieve targets and goals.
- Strong problem-solving skills: articulate, simplify, and scope problems, then follow through to completion.
- Technical understanding of payment operations processes to develop or recommend solutions.
- Customer-centric mindset: empathize with challenges and passionately drive solutions that positively impact teams and customers.
- Comfort working with data: build dashboards (e.g., Looker), analyze customer insights, and measure solution impact.
- Ability to assess cross-team and customer impact, globalizing solutions where possible.
- Strong communication skills: tailor messaging for stakeholders at all levels, from leadership to specialists.
- Mission-driven approach: map mission impact when scoping projects and speak up if actions conflict with Wise’s principles or introduce unnecessary risk.
- Collaborative mindset: actively seek stakeholder feedback and empathize with diverse viewpoints.
