Paymaster
About the role
This role is remote within the United States; this candidate must be located in California.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with clients to manage payroll processing with a high level of service
- Review and calculate client timecards, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and union laws and regulations; follow up with clients to advise on discrepancies when necessary
- Enter and process start documents and timecards, including verifying electronic onboarding data for payroll and ensuring accuracy within tight deadlines
- Compile and review payroll reports and invoices for client review and approval
- Manage payroll releases, including check printing and distribution, accounting import verification and releases, digital notifications, and the creation and maintenance of client protocols
- Manage and support assigned non-union and union payroll clients, especially VIP projects and clients with heavy union involvement
- Perform administrative duties related to payroll processing, including verifying employment history, reporting, unemployment processing, filing, and scanning
- Provide day-to-day training and support to Payroll Administrators and Payroll Coordinators within the squad
- Provide feedback to Senior Paymasters and Payroll Managers within squads
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in payroll or production accounting
- 2+ years of experience with entertainment union contracts
- Experience in the film and TV industry is a plus
- Able to manage high-volume work with competing priorities under pressure
- Highly organized and accurate, with acute attention to detail
- Problem-solving orientation, focused on finding solutions rather than just completing tasks
- Client-focused and able to be assertive
- Thrives in a fast-paced, exciting, and creative environment
Qualifications
- Ability to manage union payroll clients, especially VIP projects and clients with heavy union involvement
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience with payroll systems and software
- Knowledge of federal, state, and union payroll regulations

SALARY RANGE: $64K to $72K
