Paving Superintendent
Job Summary
The Paving Superintendent will oversee daily paving operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role requires strong leadership, field experience, and communication skills to manage crews, subcontractors, equipment, and schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all paving crew activities on-site
- Schedule and manage labor, materials, and equipment for paving operations
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company standards
- Communicate daily with project managers, foremen, and inspectors
- Maintain accurate daily logs and documentation of progress
- Monitor project timelines, quality control, and cost efficiency
- Troubleshoot field issues and adjust plans as needed to meet project goals
- Participate in pre-paving meetings and help plan efficient workflow
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in asphalt paving, with at least 2 years in a leadership or superintendent role
- Strong understanding of DOT, city, and county paving specifications
- Knowledge of paving equipment, materials, and best practices
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Able to read and interpret blueprints and project plans
- Strong communication skills with team members, clients, and inspectors
- Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus)
- Able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends when needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GPS equipment and paving automation systems
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
- OSHA 10 or 30 Certification
