Pattern Maker/ Sample Engineer

About the role

The Studio Pattern/Sample maker is someone who is an expert in patternmaking and sewing. This individual is proactive, collaborative, safety-minded, detail-oriented, and comfortable troubleshooting, sharing expertise in patternmaking, garment construction, and studio equipment.

Responsibilities

• Engineer patterns specific to designer vision
• Cut, sew, and assemble samples at a premium level
• Participate in the apparel development process with Nike Product Creation teams
• Engage with studio team, design, and product development partners to execute product development and fit goals
• Keep abreast of market trends, understand team goals, new technologies, and consumer needs throughout the development process
• Manage multiple projects and support team with SOP development

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in apparel design, textile science, or related field (preferred)
• Additional product creation experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
• 5-10 years patternmaking and/or sample sewing in the apparel industry, including the development process from inception through production (pattern making, grading, construction materials, costing, manufacturing, and quality)
• Expertise in patternmaking, sewing, and garment construction
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
• Experience interpreting design intent, offering alternative solutions, and acting as a technical resource
• Proficiency with MS Office programs
• Experience using Optitex/Gerber, CLO/Browzwear, Adobe Illustrator, CAD Pattern Design software is highly desired
