Duties/Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Patient Support Technician Team, ensuring staff are well-trained, supported, and compliant with all mandatory training requirements.
  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, and retention strategies to build a high-performing team.
  • Responsible for performance reviews, competency reviews, time-off approvals, disciplinary actions, payroll processes, and career development initiatives.
  • Identify and address knowledge deficits and competency needs through individualized and group training.
  • Identify and communicate staffing needs and challenges to supervisor.
  • Develop staff to fill specific roles, such as team leader and EDT.
  • Develop competency with staff that ensures thorough and objective patient evaluations.
  • Improve and maintain culture for staff and patient support/care.
  • Ensure patient interactions are adequately documented.
  • Ensure staff complete their duties as assigned.
  • Support the Bowen Health Learning & Development Team as needed.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Experience: Prefer two (2) years in a psychiatric hospital setting.
  • Certification or Professional License: CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) - certification must be obtained after hire and prior to providing direct patient care. BLS (Basic Life Support) and First Aid - certification must be obtained after hire and prior to providing direct patient care. SERV Safe Food Manager Certification - required prior to working in the kitchen or assisting with serving meals.
  • Physical Requirements: Occupational Exposure Risk Classification, minimal exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, minimal ergonomic risk for repetitive motion impairment, minimal physical exertion (bending, lifting, twisting), ability to engage with patients who may become violent and participate in physical patient holds using approved techniques when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks.
  • Must be a minimum 21 years of age.
