About the role
Patient transporters bring patients to and from their designated testing centers, deliver equipment to nursing floors, and remove or deliver blood products or sterile supplies.
Responsibilities
- Transport designated in-patients and out-patients.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and orderly work environment.
- Participate in setting and attaining department goals.
- Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of patients and their families at all times.
- Utilize communication skills effectively with patients, families, visitors, medical staff, and hospital personnel.
- Keep current regarding job-related duties through required in-service education and staff meetings.
- Formulate and use effective working relationships with all healthcare staff, patients, and significant others.
- Assertively seek guidance and direction as needed.
- Provide coverage for Code 99's.
- Serve as dispatcher as needed.
- Apply basic trapeze set-ups and retrieve equipment for other traction sets.
- Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must understand and speak conversational English and possess listening and comprehension skills.
- Must be able to work with young, elderly, sick, and physically challenged people.
- Bilingual skills desired.
Working Conditions
- Manual: Significant manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity.
- Occupational: Significant occupational risk.
- Physical Effort: Very heavy effort; may exert up to 50 lbs. of force.
- Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
Pay
$17.00 - $24.91 hourly.
