Patient Transporter (per diem)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide transportation of patients, visitors, belongings, and equipment throughout the hospital including to physicians’ offices.
- Under the direction of the Manager, provide transportation of patients.
- Determine method of transportation needed and follow through.
- Deliver or pick up patients in a prompt, courteous manner upon telephone request.
- Assist clinical personnel in transferring patients to or from beds or chairs or stretchers.
- Report to all assigned areas in Nursing Departments to deliver/pick up inpatient or outpatient needs (specimens, cultures, bloods, non-narcotic meds, pharmacy requisitions, etc.).
- Respond to all stat requests from OR and Nursing Units within ten (10) minutes (stat bloods, cultures, oncology requests).
- Sort all mail and file according to department.
- Deliver flower, fruit baskets, and packages for patients and Hospital employees.
- Stock and clean precaution carts on the nursing units daily and every weekend.
- Plan time away from work appropriately, arriving and leaving at designated times, using earned time appropriately.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Participate in annual safety reviews.
- Aid in yearly employees’ evaluations.

Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Heart Saver certification required within 60 days of hire date from American Heart Association or Red Cross.

Pay
The pay range listed for this position is $17.00 - $22.88 per hour. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, including seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
Schedule
This is a per-diem position, requiring evening, weekend, and holiday work.
