Job Responsibilities
- Ready to travel to a client location within a designated region with short notice.
- Aid supervisors in implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for patient services in accordance with PathGroup guidelines.
- Act as backup for the Patient Services Supervisor and carry out duties in their absence.
- Coordinate the work of patient services technicians in the Patient Service Centers and In-office Patient Services Technician (IOPSTs) to ensure consistent production and service levels.
- Disseminate information to employees.
- Train, coach, and provide input on the performance evaluation of phlebotomists.
- Assist in relocating and opening new facilities as necessary.
- Perform site visits as assigned and document findings.
- Assist with Quality Assurance (QA) audits.
- Greet customers appropriately and treat them courteously.
- Ensure all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
- Collect specimens according to established procedures and explain the process clearly and courteously.
- Reduce patient anxiety by providing a calm environment.
- Dispose of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue in compliance with applicable laws, standards, or policies.
- Complete requisitions accurately within Pathconnect and/or other PathGroup computer applications.
- Enter patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into the computer.
- Communicate with clients to confirm handwritten orders, verify tests ordered, and obtain accurate billing information.
- Research test/client information using the lab computer system.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Prepare schedules with minimal overtime for employees and floaters, submit them to the supervisor for approval.
- Assist with time/attendance entry of employees.
- Maintain daily records and all appropriate PSC/IOPSTs Patient Services logs.
- Compile monthly statistics and data.
- Perform basic clerical duties such as filing, faxing, and preparing mail.
- Perform electronic data entry and approve time in attendance software by noon on the Monday following the end of the pay period.
- Submit accurate expense and travel logs on Monday for the week prior or as directed by management.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and adhere to departmental and company code of grooming and dress code policies.
- Communicate pertinent information/issues to supervisor, manager, or group leader for resolution.
- Contribute to a positive work climate and team effort of the department and company.
- Ensure facilities are neat, clean, and in good repair, take appropriate action to advise Group Leader or Supervisor of required repairs and maintenance.
- Assist with periodic inventory counts, report shortages and problems to the supervisor as they occur.
- Utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure patient and personal safety.
- Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
- Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with and adherence to the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.
