Patient Services Specialist - Providence Kodiak Island

Full-time position (1.0 FTE) with variable 8-hour shifts, totaling 40 hours per week at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.

About the role

The Patient Services Specialist (Admitting Representative) ensures accurate collection of demographic information for billing by verifying patient details and benefit eligibility for insurance and third-party payers. This role also handles payments, issues receipts, and manages the switchboard, including answering calls, transfers, intercom, and paging systems. The specialist provides general support to patients, families, visitors, and other departments while fostering teamwork, positive relationships, and a professional image.

Responsibilities

• Collect and verify patient demographic information for billing accuracy.
• Confirm patient benefit eligibility for insurance and third-party payers.
• Receive payments and issue receipts on patient accounts as appropriate.
• Operate the switchboard, including answering incoming calls, transfers, intercom, and paging systems.
• Provide support to patients, families, visitors, and other departments in alignment with Providence’s philosophy and standards.
• Promote teamwork and constructive relationships while maintaining a positive and professional image.

Qualifications

• Preferred: 1 year of experience in admitting or a related role.

Pay

Pay range: $19.23 - $28.55 per hour (base pay). The successful candidate’s placement on the wage range will be determined based on relevant experience and other applicable factors.
