Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service to all patients, visitors, co-workers, and leaders to ensure an exceptional experience.
- Follow Patient Experience training and requirements.
- Demonstrate excellent telephone etiquette, answering calls within three rings and providing warm transfers.
- Obtain, verify, and update patient demographics and insurance information in the EMR.
- Perform verification of patient information by asking for two identifiers with every patient, every time.
- Ensure protection of PHI and strict adherence to MCR privacy policies, including social media guidelines.
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor, adhering to dress code and non-personal cellphone policy in workspaces.
- Schedule advanced and same-day appointments, accurately entering information into the EMR.
- Explain services, operating hours, and assist patients with eligibility forms for reduced fees (sliding scale) based on current guidelines.
- Complete patient screening, verify eligibility, and obtain authorizations for specific populations (e.g., OB patients for Presumptive Eligibility for Pregnant Women).
- Guide patients to appropriate resources and clearly articulate payment requirements, including deductibles, co-payments, and prior balances.
- Facilitate cash collections and communicate with Insurance, Billing, and Financial Counseling departments as needed.
- Protect medical records and health information from loss, destruction, or unauthorized access.
- Participate in smooth front office operations, including meeting Time of Service Collections goals, conducting pre-visit verification, and end-of-day reconciliation.
- Demonstrate proficiency with EHR programs and procedures related to responsibilities.
Requirements
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
- 6+ months of customer service experience in a fast-paced environment preferred.
- Healthcare experience preferred.
- Ability to multitask and remain focused throughout the day.
