About the role
The Patient Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations within the outpatient clinic. They are responsible for scheduling and registering patients, verifying eligibility, and coordinating pre-authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications.
Responsibilities
- Schedules and registers patients for the outpatient clinic.
- Verifies eligibility for patients and ensures all necessary pre-authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications are obtained.
- Works closely with the physician offices, Utilization Review, and Business Office Departments to facilitate these processes.
- Performs other job-related duties as directed by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1 year of clerical experience in a medical office setting required.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Background in insurance knowledge for certain tasks.
- Basic understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred).
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office.
Additional Skills/Requirements
- Working knowledge of government/state and patient assistance programs (preferred).
- Strong computer skills.
Physical Demands
- Constant standing, frequent walking, and bending/stooping.
- Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs. (use of safe handling equipment for weights over 35 lbs.).
Other
- May require the use of safety equipment, such as a HEPA mask, for infection prevention.
- Requires the ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed.
