About the role

The Patient Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations within the outpatient clinic. They are responsible for scheduling and registering patients, verifying eligibility, and coordinating pre-authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and registers patients for the outpatient clinic.
  • Verifies eligibility for patients and ensures all necessary pre-authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications are obtained.
  • Works closely with the physician offices, Utilization Review, and Business Office Departments to facilitate these processes.
  • Performs other job-related duties as directed by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of clerical experience in a medical office setting required.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Background in insurance knowledge for certain tasks.
  • Basic understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred).
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office.

Additional Skills/Requirements

  • Working knowledge of government/state and patient assistance programs (preferred).
  • Strong computer skills.

Physical Demands

  • Constant standing, frequent walking, and bending/stooping.
  • Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs. (use of safe handling equipment for weights over 35 lbs.).

Other

  • May require the use of safety equipment, such as a HEPA mask, for infection prevention.
  • Requires the ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed.
