Patient Services Coordinator
Position Overview
Under the direction of the Medical Director and/or Nurse Manager, this position’s primary function is to process referral requests, obtain authorization for medical services and/or admissions, and coordinate all aspects of the admission process if applicable. The responsibilities of the Patient Services Coordinator include data entry of referrals and authorizations, verification of eligibility, and daily communication with insurance companies. The Patient Service Coordinator works closely with the clinical team and medical providers to provide care for our patients in a timely manner.
About the Role
The Patient Services Coordinator works in the UHS Neurosurgery department, primarily during the day shift. The position is regular and full-time, with scheduled weekly hours of 40. Compensation is based on experience, ranging from $17.98 to $25.17 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Data entry of referrals and authorizations
- Verification of eligibility
- Daily communication with insurance companies
- Closely work with the clinical team and medical providers to provide care for patients
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience working in healthcare or two (2) years' experience working in customer service
- Proficient in PC skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
Preferred Knowledge
- Knowledge of insurance referral process
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Basic computer skills; EHR, Excel, Microsoft Office
