Patient Services Coordinator
About the role
The US Oncology Network is looking for a Patient Services Coordinator to join the team at Texas Oncology’s 3550 NE Loop 286 clinic in Paris, Texas. This full-time position supports the Revenue Cycle Department and operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
As a Patient Service Coordinator at Texas Oncology, you will serve as the first point of contact, providing compassionate support and helping patients navigate their cancer care journey. The role offers patient interaction, teamwork, professional growth, and the satisfaction of contributing to high-quality oncology care. Texas Oncology, part of The US Oncology Network, delivers evidence-based cancer care to patients across Texas, treating half of all Texans diagnosed with cancer annually.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors promptly, courteously, and professionally.
- Check in patients and inform clinical staff of patient arrival.
- Provide and explain paperwork for patients to complete prior to examination; collect, proof for completeness, and file patient forms.
- Update demographics and insurance information in the system; collect co-pays and balances and provide receipts.
- Answer, screen, and respond to routine questions; route to appropriate personnel or take thorough messages; page clinic personnel as needed.
- Check patients out after examination, schedule returning appointments per physician and office guidelines, and provide appointment details including time, location, directions, and instruction sheets.
- Record patient cancellations and missed appointments; reschedule as needed and notify appropriate staff while making note in the patient chart.
- Provide general administrative support including filing charts and forms; maintain lobby area in a neat and orderly manner; maintain a legible supply of forms and appropriate office supplies.
- Adhere to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines regarding patient records.
Qualifications
Level 1
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Some receptionist or office experience preferred.
- Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel required.
- Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying the position.
Level 2
(Including Level 1 requirements)
- At least eighteen (18) months of front medical office receptionist experience with insurance forms and scheduling software required.
- Knowledge of this practice’s personnel, daily routines, and scheduling a plus.
Level Sr
(Including Level 1 and Level 2 requirements)
- At least five (5) years of front medical office receptionist experience with insurance forms and scheduling software required.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Requires vision and hearing corrected to normal ranges.
Work Environment
Work requires frequent interaction with patients and staff.
