Patient Service Representative PRN Baker City

At Saint Alphonsus Health System, we seek individuals who embody our mission and values. We are seeking a Patient Service Representative to join the team at our STARS Baker City Clinic. This role involves assisting patients with administrative needs, ensuring smooth patient flow, and providing excellent customer service.
POSITION DETAILS
This is a PRN role that provides staffing coverage at the Baker City Hospital location. Shifts are typically from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The clinic covers both STARS Clinic (rehabilitative services) and main hospital registration. Cross-training in multiple areas is expected.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous customer service experience
- Healthcare experience preferred
- Electronic health record (EHR) experience a plus
- Medical terminology preferred
- Experience with process improvement or lean philosophy preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Knows, understands, and incorporates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values
- Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Acknowledges and greets patients immediately
- Registers patients for appointments and completes paperwork
- Verifies and updates existing patient and insurance information
- Keeps patient appointments on schedule
- Informs patients of delays and explains the anticipated wait time
- Collects and communicates patients' responsible balances for visits, diagnostics, supplies, etc.
- Aids patients with financial assistance paperwork control
- Maintains business office inventory and equipment, orders supplies
- Maintains a neat work area including the reception area
- Follows Cash Control Policy and balances daily financial activities
- Ensures collection of payments at the time of service
