About the role
This position is a part-time benefit-eligible role located at the Gentilly Blvd location of Department 02340 HC Cartersville. The schedule is 24 hours per week with the potential to increase to 40 hours per week as the practice grows. Hours are typically Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM.
Responsibilities
- Greets patients arriving for their appointments.
- Maintains patient flow to ensure efficient and courteous service.
- Completes the registration process for walk-in patients, verifying and updating patient information as needed.
- Collects patient financial liability and requests payment for past due balances or estimates.
- Follows Financial Clearance policy for non-urgent patient services and refers patients needing financial assistance to the Financial Counselor.
- Performs visit closure, including checking out patients, scheduling follow-up appointments, and providing patients with necessary documents.
- Maintains knowledge of and references materials related to Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer requirements, guidelines, and policies.
- Communicates issues involving customer service and process improvement opportunities to management.
- Maintains high accuracy rates and meets productivity standards to provide excellent service.
- Works collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth and timely information flow.
- Identifies and understands issues and problems, drawing logical conclusions based on available information.
- Communicates effectively with customers and employees, maintaining a pleasant and professional demeanor.
- Handles sensitive and confidential information according to internal policies.
- Uses Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and ADT software.
- Lifts up to 10 lbs occasionally and sits for the majority of the workday.
Requirements
No specific licensure, registration, or certification is required. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with experience in patient access (scheduling, registration, and financial clearance), insurance verification, billing, or as a certified medical assistant. Basic knowledge of human anatomy, medical terminology, and procedures is beneficial.

- Knowledge of insurance pre-certification requirements.
