About the role
The Patient Service Representative provides secretarial and phone support for the organization utilizing strong verbal and written communication skills. Responsibilities include correctly obtaining and entering patient information, patient scheduling, filing, managing electronic and phone messages, managing and tracking outgoing referrals, addressing patient balances and charge entry within the electronic medical record (EMR). Additionally, this role manages incoming and outgoing mail, clerical inventory, copying, and answering a high volume of incoming calls from patients. The Patient Service Representative works collaboratively with providers, managers, and staff to promote quality and cost-effective daily operations while maintaining good interpersonal relationships with patients, their families, the public, and co-workers.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and enter patient information accurately into the EMR.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage electronic/phone messages.
- File documents and manage/track outgoing referrals.
- Address patient balances and enter charges into the EMR.
- Manage incoming/outgoing mail and clerical inventory.
- Answer a high volume of incoming calls from patients.
- Collaborate with providers, managers, and staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with patients, families, and co-workers.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in healthcare.
- Proven “team player” experience.
- Demonstrated experience with computer use.
Qualifications (Desirable)
- Certified Medical Assistant or healthcare-related Associate’s Degree.
- Demonstrated competence in interpersonal and intra-professional relations.
- Experience in acute care patient management/organization.
- Commitment to collaboration with physicians to individualize and enhance patient care.
- Experience in medical billing.
- Knowledge of Medent or other EMR systems.

Pay
Salary Range: $15.50 - $20.00 per hour.
Schedule
Full-Time, Days, 8:30am-5:00pm.
