Duties And Responsibilities
- Schedules appointments for patients either by phone or in person.
- Matches physician/clinician availability with patients' preferences regarding date and time.
- Communicates with physicians/clinicians and other staff about patient concerns/issues related to scheduling.
- Verifies patient demographic information.
- Verifies current insurance by recording insurance card and ensuring updates in practice management and electronic medical record systems.
- Collections co-pays, self-pays, and outstanding balances.
- Ensures all information on the patient encounter is complete, accurate, and ready for charge entry.
- Completes daily close out procedures according to requirements and company policy.
- Ensures completion of referral process, outpatient test scheduling, and pre-certification.
- Files and distributes all patient information and incoming mail.
- Accurately and timely distributes patient requests.
- Works with central billing office as needed in a timely manner on all requests.
- Completes all paper/electronic medical records reports.
- Communicates and/or orders supplies as needed.
- Types correspondence and reports.
- Uses customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly.
- Prepares new patient records.
- Answers telephones within three rings and is helpful and friendly.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned on a timely, thorough, and accurate basis.
Requirements
Minimum: High School Diploma/G.E.D.
Desired: Medical Office Experience
Knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
Years Of Experience: 1-year experience in a customer service role.
