PATIENT SERVICE REP I
Position Summary
Provide administrative coverage for the patient service functions related to the operation of the physician practice. Greets, assists, and directs visitors, patients, and others upon contact to the clinic. Takes appropriate information from patients upon arrival. Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program and safety standards. Schedule patient visits with providers following established procedures and protocols. Obtain patient social demographic and medical complaint information necessary to schedule patients with appropriate providers. Answer all telephone calls and route accordingly. Complete registration process to include obtaining accurate reason for visit, current demographic information, and verification of insurance coverage. Prepare patient chart and encounter form, and obtain necessary authorizations as required for billing and/or medical treatment. Receive and record changes in patient information. Demonstrate familiarity with insurance procedures; demonstrate knowledge of which plan the provider(s) participate. Assists in filing medical records as requested or needed. Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Attend meetings as required and participates on committees as directed. Collaborate with the patient, physician and other care team members as part of a team-based approach to overall patient care. Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

Requirements
- One (1) year customer facing/customer service and/or medical office experience preferred.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
Qualifications
- None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
