About the role
The Department 13347 Enterprise Revenue Cycle at Wake Forest Highpoint NC is seeking a part-time Benefits Eligible employee to assist with patient arrival status monitoring and registration.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients arriving for their appointments.
- Maintain patient flow to ensure efficient and courteous service.
- Complete the registration process for walk-in patients, verify and update patient information.
- Verify and collect patient insurance benefits.
- Calculate and collect patient financial liability.
- Request and collect past due and present balances or estimates.
- Ensure completion of financial clearance for non-urgent services.
- Identify and refer patients needing financial assistance to the Financial Counselor.
- Perform visit closure, including checking out patients, scheduling follow-up appointments, and providing patients with necessary documents.
- Stay updated on Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer requirements, guidelines, and policies.
- Communicate customer service issues and process improvement suggestions to management.
- Maintain high accuracy rates and productivity levels.
- Maintain excellent public relations with patients, families, and clinical staff.
- Proactively communicate with management regarding issues and opportunities for improvement.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Patient access (scheduling, registration, and financial clearance) experience preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance verification and billing.
- Experience as a certified medical assistant preferred.
Qualifications
- Ability to identify and understand issues and problems.
- Knowledge and ability to articulate explanations of Medicare, HIPAA, and EMTALA rules and regulations.
- Mathematical aptitude, effective oral and written communication skills, and critical thinking skills.
- Understanding of basic human anatomy, medical terminology, and procedures.
- Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information according to internal policies.
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to write routine correspondence, calculate figures and amounts, and communicate with patients.

Exposure to a normal office environment. Must be able to sit the majority of the workday. Occasional lifting up to 10 lbs. Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
