Patient Safety Observer-Full-Time-Nights

About the Role

A Patient Safety Observer (Sitter) at Erlanger Health System provides continuous observation of patients, basic care, and documentation of behavior. The role involves working closely with clinical staff to ensure a safe environment for patients.

Responsibilities

• Sit with patients to observe and document behavior.
• Maintain continuous interaction with patients, visitors/family, and hospital staff.
• Remain with the patient until relieved by another Patient Safety Observer or hospital staff member.
• Provide basic patient care, including ambulating, assisting with hygiene needs, and feeding.
• Travel to all Erlanger campuses as assigned.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, handle complaints, and resolve conflicts when necessary.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• BLS certification (must be completed prior to starting and maintained).

Qualifications

• Good reading, writing, and communication skills.
• Preferred: Patient care or other healthcare experience, caretaker, or prior sitting experience.
