Patient Safety Attendant
About the Role
As a Patient Safety Attendant with HCA Florida Northside Hospital, you will participate in high-quality, patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients. In collaboration with the patient care team, you will ensure the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimize the risk of falls or accidental or intentional self-harm.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic activities of daily living.
- Maintain a direct line of sight with the patient at all times, including while family and visitors are in the room.
- Accompany patients and ensure patient safety during transportation, testing, and procedures occurring away from the patient’s normal environment.
- Establish a safe, risk-free patient environment by utilizing knowledge of fall prevention protocols, infection control measures, and self-harm prevention.
- Perform room assessments regularly and after any visitations.
- Monitor patients’ physical and emotional condition and report any changes in status promptly while maintaining a direct line of sight.
- Intervene as needed to prevent patients from harming themselves or others, seeking immediate assistance for escalating incidents.
Requirements
- One year of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Current AHA (American Heart Association) BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required on all clinical nursing units.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and basic PC skills.
