About the role
The Patient Relations Specialist acts as an administrative liaison to patients, family members, physicians, coworkers, and departments, assisting patients in understanding hospital services and resolving their concerns. This includes receiving and investigating patient complaints to ensure timely and positive resolutions, while promoting patient rights and services in line with regulatory standards and Mercy's mission.
Schedule
Part-time, 24 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Receive and investigate patient complaints to ensure timely and positive resolutions.
- Promote patient rights and services in line with regulatory standards and Mercy's mission.
- Analyze data and provide detailed reports to hospital committees.
- Identify trends and make recommendations for process improvements.
- Implement and champion new processes related to patient relations.
- Work with hospital leadership to develop and monitor patient relations initiatives.
- Ensure accurate documentation and follow-up of patient complaints.
- Assess and address patient problems effectively.
- Use hospital systems for data collection and analysis.
Requirements
- Prior experience in customer service or patient relations.
Qualifications
- Degree in a healthcare-related field (preferred).
- Understanding of hospital services, patient care, and regulatory standards.
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and hospital staff.
- Analytical skills to identify trends and make recommendations.
- Ability to follow through on tasks and motivate others.
- Self-motivated and able to manage tasks without constant supervision.
- Proficiency in using MS Office products for documentation and reporting.
