Job Details

  • Greet and check in patients, providing a professional and welcoming experience
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage prior to appointments
  • Collect co-pays, verify required documentation, and explain basic coverage information to patients
  • Accurately enter and update patient demographics and insurance details in the EHR
  • Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments
  • Assist with patient registration, intake forms, and sliding fee scale documentation (FQHC setting)
  • Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries, and route calls appropriately
  • Cook up referrals, authorizations, and follow-up appointments
  • Maintain organized front desk operations and support efficient patient flow
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards

Qualifications

  • 1–3+ years of experience in a medical front desk, patient services, or healthcare administrative role
  • Hands-on experience with insurance verification, eligibility checks, and patient intake required
  • Experience in an FQHC or community health setting preferred
  • Strong understanding of insurance types (Medicaid, Medicare, commercial plans)
  • Familiarity with EHR systems (eClinicalWorks, Epic, or similar)
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Bilingual (Spanish or other languages) is a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
