Job Summary and Responsibilities

You will track patient placement needs and availability, expertly assign beds across all hospital departments to optimize patient flow. Coordinate bed assignments based on existing policies, collaborate with nursing and medical staff, and continuously monitor admissions, transfers, and discharges to maximize bed utilization and resolve bottlenecks. Communicate bed changes to all involved departments and maintain accurate automated systems.

  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and a strong ability to manage real-time data.
  • Independently determine safe and appropriate patient bed assignments based on patient admission criteria and documented diagnosis.
  • Prioritize bed placement using age-specific requirements, diagnosis, and condition of the patient.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines for admissions of patients as well as internal transfer of patients.
  • Accurately process admissions, transfers, and discharges in the clinical information system.
  • Maintain accurate automated systems and leverage knowledge of medical terminology to facilitate appropriate preliminary bed assignments for discussion with clinical teams.
  • Monitor patient admissions and make changes to patient status as appropriate, requiring multiple system updates.

Job Requirements

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • One (1) year as a Coordinator, Patient Access or Patient Placement in a hospital or healthcare setting

Pay Range

$24.24 - $24.24 /hour
