Patient Navigator Specialist
About the role
The Patient Navigator Specialist at Cottage Health is responsible for connecting the community with efficient access to care. Duties include scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, reviewing/editing/obtaining pre-authorizations, and communicating directly with clinical staff/offices on pertinent patient information.
Responsibilities
- Schedule appointments and verify insurance
- Review/edit/obtain pre-authorizations
- Communicate directly with clinical staff/offices on patient information
- Resolve general inquiries from patients and callers
Qualifications
- Education: Preferred: Associate's degree
- Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Preferred: Certified Revenue Cycle Representative or Certified Patient Access Specialist (HBI)
- Technical Requirements: Minimum: Basic MS Word, Outlook and Excel skills; 35 wpm keyboard/typing speed. Preferred: MS Office Suite, experience working with Epic, knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience: Minimum: 2 years of experience in an office, hospitality, or customer service environment. Preferred: 2 years of Patient Access or healthcare scheduling experience

Pay
Pay for non-physician positions is determined based on related years of experience and internal equity. Eligible employees may also receive additional forms of compensation, including shift differentials, on-call pay, incentive pay, and bonus opportunities, where applicable.
Schedule
Manager and above positions may participate in Cottage Health’s annual management incentive program.
