Patient Navigator - Medical Oncology - FT Days

Qualifications

• Required: Medical Assistant Certification from one of the following: AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT
• Required: Ability to work well as part of the interdisciplinary team in the treatment and care of sick and/or terminally ill patients and their families
• Preferred: 2 years' experience working with patients and their families
• Preferred: Associate degree or higher in a healthcare related field

Essential Job Functions

• Demonstrates the knowledge, skill, and coordination to provide guidance to the cancer patient from screening to survivorship
• Coordinates patient request for information regarding the disease process, expected side effects of treatment and community resources
• Maximizes treatment adherence by coordinating with patients and a multidisciplinary team
• Tracks and reviews orders, medical tests, and medical procedures and follows those results to provide timely decision-making information for the providers
• Functions in an organized and time conscious manner
• Maintains necessary professional standards for employment
• Understands the side effects of procedures and treatments and coordinates the management of side effects under the directions of the physician
• Supports the patient during difficult decision-making periods
• Participates in the appropriate division of these job functions with other patient navigation staff with direction and guidance from providers and management

Marginal Job Functions

• Performs charge duties as assigned
