Responsibilities
- Performs key role in assuring care on a continuum, coordinating patient care activities for individuals with clinically significant cancers.
- Refers patients to other health professionals and support services as appropriate.
- Ensure healthcare provider team is apprised of patient’s condition.
- Participates in developing policies, procedures, and standards of patient care in conjunction with Comprehensive Cancer Center Clinical Manager and Medical Director.
- Participates in developing specific patient care protocols.
- Provides for appropriate patient and family education and counseling regarding disease and treatment, potential complications, signs and symptoms requiring immediate attention.
- Documents patients’ progress, compliance, and other essential information in the medical record.
- Ensures patient’s primary care and sub-specialty providers are provided with timely information on patient’s progress and additional needs.
- Participates in ongoing quality assurance activities by collecting and analyzing statistical data and auditing patient records.
- May assist in preparation of grant proposals, writing program reports, and the like.
- Collects and reports information to ensure compliance with grant expectations and reporting requirements.
- Participates in ongoing education and networking regarding navigation of patients with complex cancers.
Requirements
- Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
- BSN graduate from a school of nursing licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island.
- Current CPR certification.
- Excellent analytical and patient evaluation skills.
- Advanced skill in assessment of physical and psychosocial health-illness status.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and effective public speaking skills.
- Two to three years of oncology nursing experience in inpatient, ambulatory, or community setting.
- Case Management experience preferred.
- Certification in Oncology Nursing preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit for 3-7 hours per day, stand, walk, bend, squat, and kneel.
- Must be able to use both hands/wrists and perform work that deviates from neutral position and be able to perform fine motor skills.
- Near vision must be accurate at 20/40, far vision accurate at 20/40, have minimal color discrimination and minimal depth perception.
- Must be able to hear and whisper at 3 feet.
Pay Range
$77,230.40 - $154,460.80
