About the role
Supports Multispecialty office
Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:30AM-5:00PM
Responsibilities
- Keeps accurate, legible documentation of patient past medical history, medications, and clinical history for patients.
- Collections data and record it in the required spreadsheet format daily.
- Performs front office responsibilities, including scheduling, verification, and authorization for patients.
- Maintains current knowledge of insurance requirements for surgery.
- Communicates effectively with front desk staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Participates in marketing efforts for promotion of patients.
- Maintains and provides organized information to patients and families regarding scheduling, appointments, nutritional requirements, and insurance processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Good medical knowledge to assist providers during patient coordination of care.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Director, Bariatric Coordinator, Physicians, Staff, Practice Manager/Administrator, unit and administrative personnel, and a variety of other hospital staff.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and with others in a team environment.
- Ability to integrate the knowledge of teaching principles and techniques in order to provide education to patients and their families.
- Possess a high level of organizational skills and effective time management to prioritize and adjust workflow according to changing needs.
- Ability to function in demanding and emergency situations.
- Possess orientation to detail.
- Be proficient in computer skills, including a good understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to adapt to change.
- Experience working with insurance companies, including obtaining authorizations and preauthorizations.
- Competent skills in secretarial, typing, and reception tasks.
Qualifications
- Associate [Preferred]
- High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
- 1+ experience in a clinical setting. [Required]
- Insurance authorization/verification experience [Preferred]
- Medical office or medical call setting experience. [Preferred]
Skills
- Knowledge of teaching principles and techniques to provide education to patients and their families.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
