About the role

As a Patient Logistic Specialist with HCA Healthcare, you will play a key role in coordinating patient care and logistics within healthcare facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to phone calls with a sense of urgency and demonstrate strong customer service skills.
  • Gather initial information required to open new cases/calls and prepare clinical information/packets for clinicians to assess and advance patient care.
  • Establish and maintain awareness and knowledge of facility medical staff, services, and specialized programs.
  • Locate available resources and coordinate information to support patient disposition and admissions to appropriate units/facilities.
  • Maintain active inventory of bed availability within the community for non-HCA bed placements and admissions.
  • Accept, track, and facilitate hospital transfers and transports telephonically and via computer applications.
  • Provide updates to customers on the status of patient cases, including assessment status and bed placement requests.
  • Assist in scheduling and prioritizing discharge transports, ensuring rapid response to service requests.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Experience in an acute care setting (e.g., Hospital Unit Secretary) highly preferred, especially in an Emergency Department (ED).
  • Understanding of how patient populations move through a hospital setting and healthcare organizations.
  • Experience in Behavioral Health (e.g., Behavioral Health Tech) preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology.
  • Must live within 60 miles of a Patient Logistics Center Facility (locations include Richmond, VA; Jacksonville, FL; Tamarac, FL; Plano, TX; or Denver, CO).

Schedule

  • Part-Time, Mixed Shift with Weekend Rotation.
  • 12-hour shifts required.
  • Flexibility in scheduling required.
  • Rotating weekends required.
  • Holiday shifts required.
