Position Summary
Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, located on the downtown Orlando campus, provides specialized care for women and newborns. The hospital is "Magnet" recognized for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care, and is certified in perinatal care by The Joint Commission. It welcomes nearly 14,000 babies annually, with 350 beds including 142 neonatal intensive care beds.
Responsibilities
- Displays excellent communication and customer service skills with patients, nursing staff, and visitors
- Delivers the proper tray to the correct patient using proper customer service skills
- Functions as an integral part of the Orlando Health team to support the nutritional needs of the patient
- Arranges trays on delivery cart and logs delivery times
- Logs tray locations and ensures trays are delivered to patients within a reasonable required time
- Collects money for guest trays and logs money with the diet office
- Collects and removes soiled trays from floors and keeps work areas clean
- Collaborates with the expeditor and diet office when necessary for tray delivery coordination
- Assists with expediting trays from list and call preparation areas, checking trays for accuracy and completeness
- Maintains accurate records of patient diet prescriptions, order changes, and nourishment orders
- Accurately takes and checks patient menus according to physician diet orders, adhering to patient’s food allergies, intolerances, and preferences
- Models essential service behaviors, such as excellent communication and customer service skills, interacting cooperatively and constructively, and communicating in an open, honest, gracious, and compassionate manner
- Interacts appropriately with a culturally diverse population
- Fulfills departmental and individual concerns or problems following the chain of command
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance and complies with Orlando Health policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Ability to read and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers
