Patient Engagement Specialist

About the role

The Patient Engagement Specialist supports patient experience, patient engagement, and service excellence initiatives throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

• Supports patient experience, patient engagement, and service excellence initiatives throughout the organization.
• Works collaboratively with patients, families, clinical teams, and leadership to improve communication, patient satisfaction, service recovery, and overall patient-centered care delivery.
• Aids in purposeful rounding, patient follow-up, survey coordination, resource connection, and education initiatives.
• Promotes a positive and supportive healthcare environment.

Requirements

• Associate degree preferred in healthcare, communications, business, social services, or related field; OR minimum of two (2) years of healthcare, patient experience, customer service, or patient engagement experience required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical staff.
• Experience with patient satisfaction initiatives, service recovery, or healthcare operations preferred.
• Ability to effectively manage sensitive situations with professionalism and compassion.
• Basic computer and data entry skills required.

Qualifications

• Current understanding of patient care delivery, leadership, patient safety, and quality and process improvement.
• Knowledge of patient experience surveys (including CMS-mandated CAHPS surveys) and use of the results to drive improvement is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel, a plus.
