Patient Care Technician - Progressive Care Unit (PCU) - Part Time Days
About the role
The Patient Care Technician performs direct and indirect patient care functions under the supervision of appropriately licensed personnel. The Technician is responsible for assisting patients with personal care needs and participating in the plan of care. The technician regularly communicates observations and data collection to the Clinical Associate. This position also collects test specimens as directed according to established procedures and documents patient care activities consistent with data collection and the test performed.
Responsibilities

- Collects test specimens as directed according to established procedures.

- Assists customers in a friendly, prompt, caring manner, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and respect.
- Works as part of the care team to meet the needs of the customer and to support team objectives, assisting other team members when necessary.
Qualifications
- High School degree or equivalent required.
- BLS from the American Heart Association required within 30 days of hire or transfer.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training required within 1 year of hire or transfer, or until 10/31/25 for existing employees in the role.
- Ability to speak and write English Language required. Bilingual preferred.
- At least 8 weeks of Patient Care education or direct patient care experience required; or enrolled in a nursing school or physician assistant program. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Interpersonal skills required to effectively communicate with other team members.
- Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, set priorities, solve problems and use good judgment in difficult situations.
- Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
Performance Expectations
- Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
- Specialty Certification Required: Emergency Room City American Heart Association BLS required upon hire. CPI by 10/31/25 for existing employees, and new employees have 1 year from hire or transfer date.
- Specialty Certification Required: Emergency Room Mainland American Heart Association BLS required upon hire. CPI by 10/31/25 for existing employees, and new employees have 1 year from hire or transfer date.
- Specialty Certification Required: Hammonton Emergency Room American Heart Association BLS within 30 days of hire. CPI by 10/31/25 for existing employees, and new employees have 1 year from hire or transfer date.
- Specialty Certification Required: Trauma ICU American Heart Association BLS within 30 days of hire. CPI by 10/31/25 for existing employees, and new employees have 1 year from hire or transfer date.
- Specialty Certification Required: Critical Care (ICU) Mainland American Heart Association BLS within 30 days of hire. CPI by 10/31/25 for existing employees, and new employees have 1 year from hire or transfer date.
