Patient Care Technician- Part Time- PCU

About the role

In this highly technical, fast-paced, and challenging position, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide the very best care for our patients. The Patient Care Technician professional assists with patient care to provide support services to the patient, nursing unit, and professional staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care activities delegated and supervised by the professional staff, such as activities of daily living, patient mobility, and patient meals and nourishments
• Respond effectively in emergencies and assist in prevention of patient injury
• Maintain a clean work environment, adequate equipment, and supplies
• Collect lab specimens, label, and deliver to lab in a timely manner, utilizing appropriate safety measures
• Conform to safety standards dictated by regulatory agencies

Requirements

• Graduate from a certified Patient Care Technician, Nursing Assistant, or Medical Assistant Program
• Or 1 year experience as a nursing assistant in a comparable healthcare facility
• Or nursing student who documents completion of the first semester of the nursing program
• Or documented military experience as a medic/corpsman
• Or foreign nursing graduate not currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse
• Or EMT Certification/Paramedic License
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support card required
• High school diploma or GED required

Work Environment

Works indoors, with exposure to allergic irritants, blood and body fluids, infectious diseases, respiratory irritants, skin irritants, electrical equipment, and sharp utensils. Requires sitting, standing, talking, walking, bending, carrying, climbing, lifting, pushing/pulling, and reaching. Requires hearing normal noise level and occasional loud noise, and vision essential use of hands to finger, handle or feel.
