Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Surgery

About the role

Responsible for delivering routine patient care and support services in accordance with policies and under the guidance of nurses or physicians, ensuring high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe patient care such as ambulating, bathing, positioning, feeding, and attending to other needs, responding promptly to call lights and special requests.
• Greets visitors, answers inquiries, assists with messages, gifts, and errands for patients.
• Supports patient mobility, measures outputs, collects specimens, and transports patients as needed.
• Operates communication systems, manages department traffic, and prepares diagnostic and therapy requisitions, coordinating appointments.
• Requisitions supplies, maintains equipment, and requests additional services like social or pastoral care.
• Performs clerical tasks related to admissions, discharges, transfers, and documentation, and manages patient mail.
• Maintains patient rooms, changes linens, and completes routine cleaning.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred.
