We use advanced technology to enhance patient care at Lovelace Westside Hospital, which serves Albuquerque’s Westside and Rio Rancho with a 24-hour emergency department and a wide range of inpatient and outpatient surgical capabilities, including ENT, bariatric, and orthopedic service lines.

Responsibilities

  • Works under the limited supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties of a PCT, including assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
  • Observes patients’ progress and prepares reports for the Registered Nurse or other medical staff.
  • Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
  • Provides basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
  • Measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines.
  • Assists patients with range of motion and draws blood.
  • Provides treatments to patients, performs technical procedures such as feeding tube and catheter administration, suture/staple removal, splinting of extremities, and performs ECGs as ordered.
  • Coordinates daily activities for assigned unit, including general clerical and administrative support.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities to enhance and maintain personal and department qualifications and standards of performance.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Competent to perform in at least two general areas of practice (cross-trained and cross competent to cover more than one hospital service, role, or function).
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Phlebotomy or completion of a Phlebotomy course.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • 5 years’ experience in acute or long-term care.
  • Completion of approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) program.
