Patient Care Technician (PCT)

Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Take patient history, obtain vital signs, perform phlebotomy, complete lab paperwork, conduct point of care testing, schedule ancillary care, assist providers with exams and testing, maintain confidentiality, ensure equipment is in working order, log procedures, document patient history, and physical examination findings.
• Reception: Greet patients, complete registration, explain insurance options, answer phone calls, collect patient responsibility, print, scan, and fax reports, and clean the clinic.
• Occupational Medicine: Ensure accurate completion and timely scanning of occupational medicine documentation, complete DOT and non-DOT physicals, vision and audio testing, pulmonary function testing, and audiograms.

Requirements

• Minimum 6+ months of experience as a Patient Care Technician or similar role, or equivalent education/certification in a related healthcare specialty.
• Preferred experience in Urgent Care, Occupational Medicine, and/or Phlebotomy.
• Ability to identify equipment problems and correct them or notify the team leader.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, and families.
• Computer knowledge and skills, including registering patients on the computer in a timely manner using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Complete and maintain CPR certification.
• Excellent listening and note-taking skills.
• Strong communication skills, including grammar, spelling, and verbal abilities.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work accurately under pressure.
• Capable of working well in a team environment.
• Friendly and customer service-oriented.
• Manage high call and patient volume.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred EMT Basic certification, Medical Assistant certification through one of the following programs: Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcare Association, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Technologists, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists.
