Patient Care Technician - PCT

About the role

UAB St. Vincent’s East offers a flexible PRN schedule from 7pm to 7am.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.
• Ambulate patients as necessary, including helping them to a recliner, walk to the bathroom, or down the hall.
• Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Report findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Document necessary records.
• Keep patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintain medical equipment.
• Perform certain technical patient care duties as directed by the staff nurse, such as oxygen setup, Foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection, and EKGs.
• Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 month of hire date or job transfer date, with American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.
• High school diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
