Patient Care Technician - PCT
Overview
Fresenius Medical Care is seeking Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to support and collaborate with Registered Nurses (RNs) in providing dialysis treatment to several patients at a time. The role involves prepping and testing equipment, reviewing treatment sheets, and opening the clinic at 4am for first shift.
Job Description
Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) assist other health care members in providing patient-specific detailed education regarding adequacy measures. They welcome assigned patients, evaluate vascular access for patency, obtain vital signs, perform vascular access evaluations, administer Heparin, initiate dialysis treatment, monitor patients' responses, and perform interventions as needed. PCTs also maintain a safe and clean working environment, clean and disinfect equipment, prepare supplies, and document all activities.
Success Profile
A successful PCT should have prior customer service, healthcare, and direct patient care experience. They should have a combination of technical skills and genuine passion for developing deep relationships with patients and improving their quality of life. Key attributes include strong communication skills, empathy, problem-solving abilities, motivation, and attention to detail.
