Patient Care Technician - PCT

Overview

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to support and collaborate with Registered Nurses (RNs) in providing dialysis treatment to several patients at a time. This role involves prepping and testing equipment, reviewing treatment sheets, and opening clinics early in the morning.

Job Description

Patient Care Technicians at Fresenius Medical Care support the multidisciplinary team by preparing and operating hemodialysis machines, ensuring a safe and clean environment, and maintaining patient care routines. Key responsibilities include:

• Assist in patient education regarding dialysis adequacy measures.
• Welcome and inquire about patients' wellbeing.
• Evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, and administer heparin.
• Obtain vital signs and weight before and after treatment.
• Initiate and monitor dialysis treatments, evaluate intradialytic issues, and document interventions.
• Ensure patient safety and document all actions.
• Prepare and organize supplies, and collect necessary laboratory tests.
• Support infection control practices and educate patients on transitional care.

Success Profile

Successful candidates should have prior customer service, healthcare, and direct patient care experience. They must also demonstrate strong management skills and a genuine passion for building relationships with patients.
