Patient Care Technician - PCT
Overview
Fresenius Medical Care is seeking Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to support and collaborate with Registered Nurses (RNs) in providing dialysis treatment to several patients at a time.
Job Description
Patient Care Technicians at Fresenius Medical Care support the organization's mission to deliver superior care that improves the quality of life of every patient, every day. Key responsibilities include:
- Assist in the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines.
- Evaluate vascular access for patency and perform vascular access cannulation.
- Initiate and monitor dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders.
- Obtain and document vital signs and weight before and after treatment.
- Ensure appropriate safety alarms are enabled and record accurate information.
- Prepare and organize supplies to prevent wastage.
- Monitor patients performing self-care under the supervision of RNs.
- Support staff training on appropriate programs under the supervision of a nurse.
- Follow infection control policies and participate in patient education.
- Assist in transitional care unit activities, including setting and performing treatments.
Success Profile
Successful candidates should have prior customer service, healthcare, and direct patient care experience. They should also have a combination of technical skills and genuine passion for developing deep relationships with patients and improving their quality of life.
