About the role

The Patient Care Technician position in the Nursing Resource Pool (NRP - Float Pool) at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse and directly impacts patient comfort and outcome of care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and support under the supervision of nursing staff
  • Absorb activities of daily living, mobility, hygiene, and comfort measures
  • Perform 1:1 observation for patients who are agitated, confused, combative, or on suicidal precautions
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for all patients
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
  • Document care activities accurately and promptly
  • Floated to different inpatient units every shift, even multiple times in a 8- or 12-hour shift

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • At least 12 months acute care inpatient hospital experience
  • CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant upon hire

Pay

  • Minimum $18.27
  • Midpoint $22.84
  • Maximum $27.40

Schedule

  • Dayshift (0645-1915) x 3-12/hour shifts
  • Nightshift (1845-0715) x 3-12/hour shifts
  • Mandatory every-other weekend and rotating holidays
