Patient Care Technician Med Surg PT Night

Job Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalency
• BLS within 30 days of hire
• Licenses and/or certifications: Nursing home or acute care experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provides daily physical and emotional care to patients; i.e. bathing, toileting, feeding, ambulating, etc.
• Answers call lights in timely fashion
• Assists licensed personnel as directed
• Accuracy in obtaining vs., ht, wt, i/o, and other procedures as per competency
• Maintains a safe and clean environment, utilizing appropriate infection control techniques
• Recognizes when to seek help from licensed personnel, i.e., changes in patient condition
• Transports patients as needed
• Provides input to the interdisciplinary health care team
• Demonstrates use of appropriate body mechanics
• Displays analytical and basic problem solving skills
• Communicates problems to manager as appropriate
• Follows all time and attendance policies
• Attends educational programs provided by the Hospital or those which are outside the Hospital that are related to job responsibilities

Working Conditions

• Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
• Occupational: Significant occupational risk
• Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force
• Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
