About the role
The Patient Care Tech I assists the nursing staff by performing assigned duties for patients and staff under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Duties include, but are not limited to, secretarial functions and some NA I skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform secretarial functions for the nursing staff
- Assist with patient care tasks as directed
- Provide administrative support to the nursing team
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Organize and prioritize work tasks
- Support the smooth operation of the unit
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalency
- Nurses Aide I certificate listed with the North Carolina Department of Facilities Services
- At least one year of experience in an acute care setting, either as a unit secretary or as a Nurse Aide I preferred
- Able to organize confidential clerical responsibilities and patient care
- Able to relate effectively to patients, their families, physicians, staff, and all others using proper channels of communication
- Maintain current BLS certification
Qualifications
- Some understanding of medical terminology
- Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
- Ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status
- Ability to interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements
- Ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit(s)
Skills
- Excellent communication skills

- Basic computer literacy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
