Patient Care Technician I- 2IMC

About the role

The Patient Care Tech I assists the nursing staff by performing assigned duties for patients and staff under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Duties include, but are not limited to, secretarial functions and some NA I skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform secretarial functions for the nursing staff
• Assist with patient care tasks as directed
• Provide administrative support to the nursing team
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information
• Organize and prioritize work tasks
• Support the smooth operation of the unit

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalency
• Nurses Aide I certificate listed with the North Carolina Department of Facilities Services
• At least one year of experience in an acute care setting, either as a unit secretary or as a Nurse Aide I preferred
• Able to organize confidential clerical responsibilities and patient care
• Able to relate effectively to patients, their families, physicians, staff, and all others using proper channels of communication
• Maintain current BLS certification

Qualifications

• Some understanding of medical terminology
• Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
• Ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status
• Ability to interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements
• Ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit(s)

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
