About the Role
As a Patient Care Tech/Nursing Assistant, you will provide nursing care that includes taking the patient's blood pressure, checking their oxygen levels and temperature, as well as assisting patients with bathing, meals, toileting, ambulation, and other basic needs. This position is full time, working day shift with every other weekend and rotating holidays.
Responsibilities
- Takes the patient's blood pressure, checks their oxygen levels and temperature
- Assists patients with bathing, meals, toileting, ambulation, and other basic needs
- Provides one-on-one care of patients on suicide or safety precautions
- Transports patients, supplies, specimens, equipment, etc. within the facility
- Contributes to Carilion Clinic’s performance improvement activities
- Supports department/unit staff scheduling, including covering lunch assignments
- Reviews medical record for outstanding orders and notifies nurse of stat orders and medication changes
- Orders department/unit supplies and equipment and stocks/organizes supplies
- Operates and maintains general office equipment
- Follows procedures for timely equipment repairs
- Led streamlined, timely and comprehensive admission, transfer, and discharge processes keeping the patient experience as the top focus
- Welcomes and assists patients and visitors; assists with registration
- Serves as “face” of the unit; role models service excellence behaviors at all times
- Monitors cleanliness of the waiting and break rooms, and performs safety/environmental rounds on unit and with multidisciplinary team members
- May be responsible for phlebotomy, wound care dressings, saline lock replacement, and colostomy bag changes (competency appropriate)
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education required
- Previous experience in direct patient care preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant preferred (if working in a critical access facility, a Certified Nursing Assistant is required)
- AHA BLS-HCP required within 6 months of hire
Qualifications
- Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required
- Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for position
Benefits
A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available when external candidate meets applicable guidelines.
Pay
$17.39 - $24.35 per hour
Schedule
Full time, working day shift with every other weekend and rotating holidays
