Patient Care Technician, Days

Essential Functions

• Affords assistance with activities of daily living.
• Communicates significant patient information to registered nurses and other relevant team members.
• Provides basic nursing care including positioning, lifting, turning, applying/utilizing special equipment, assisting with bedpan use, ambulation, pre and post-operative care, and applying binder or anti-embolic stockings.
• Takes and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and intake and output) accurately and documents in a timely manner.
• Maintains patient rooms and beds for admission, transfers, and discharges, ensuring necessary equipment is present.
• Maintains a clean and comfortable patient environment, considering factors like cleanliness, ventilation, and lighting.
• Answers patient call lights, telephones, and paging systems and responds appropriately.
• Under the direction of a registered nurse, performs routine treatment procedures such as enemas, application of heat and cold appliances, and assists with restraining patients as needed.
• Affords assistance in feeding patients and preparing their meals, including opening containers and cutting food.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment, performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of a Patient Care Training program preferred.
• State Certified Nursing Assistant license preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
