Patient Care Tech (Days)

Essential Functions

• Demonstrate knowledge in patient care i.e.: bathing patients, assisting patients with ambulation and/or transfers, vital signs, and other patient care.
• Demonstrate positive customer service relations.
• Routinely participate in Quality Improvement projects and encourage department to continuously improve.
• Assist co-workers as needed/requested.
• Support the Medical Center’s Mission/Vision/Philosophy positively.

Physical/Mental Requirements

• Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 12 hours a day.
• Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
• Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
• Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
• Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
• Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 35 lbs.
• Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.

Requirements

• Educational requirement: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Certification requirement: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) preferred.
• Experience requirement: Equivalent experience as a nursing assistant, or 6 months of experience in the medical field, or a current nursing student that has completed the Fundamentals of Nursing is acceptable in lieu of certification.
• Training requirement: Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required (can obtain after hire).
